Rubber Band Powered Paper Arrow

In this Instructable i will show you how to build a paper arrow that is shot with a rubber band. It can easily fly over 12m (40ft) an is pretty accurate.

Step 1: What You Need

You need a pair of scissors, some glue, tape and 4 sheets o paper. That is all.

Step 2: Buildin the Shaft

First take a full sheet of paper and roll it up diagonally.Be sure to roll it as tight as possible. Put some glue on the inside and tape the end corner around the tube. Now take another full sheet of paper and roll it up sideways around the other tube. Then cut one end of the diagonally rolled paper off completely. Leave some sticking out on the other side. This will be where you grip the arrow. Reinforce the whole thing with some tape.

Step 3: Build the Head

Now take another full sheet of paper and roll it diagonally. The fold it in half. Tape the halves together and cut it in two peaces, each consisting of two tubes. They should be roughly the same size. Cut the one with the fold at an angle. This will be where the rubber band will hook on the arrow.

Now tape the two sets of tubes to the main shaft. Be sure that the notch for the rubber band faces the main shaft. use plenty glue and tape to secure the peaces together.

To complete the head cut the final peace o paper into a strip a bit wider than the head. Glue and tape it around the tubes so that it covers some of the notch keeping the rubber band from getting stuck between the tubes. At the front cut the overhang on the corners and fold them inwards. Tape them together to create the nose.

Step 4: Build the Fins

The left over paper is used for the fins. Cut it in halve and fold each of the halves. Then draw your fin design on one of the sides. Now cut all of the at once. The only thing left to do is to glue the fins on the arrow. Put on one top and one on the bottom. Then glue them together. Use some tape to reinforce them.

Step 5: Done

Now you are ready to shoot. Simply hook a rubber band in the notch and grip the arrow at the end.

The rubber bands don´t need to be strong at all. To get more power knot them together and use them as one long one.

Be careful where you aim. These arrows can hurt quite a lot.
