Intro: Paper Star

This is a hacken cool star i could make a million of!!!

STEP 1: First Step

First start with a strip of paper. Tie a “knot” in the end of your paper.

STEP 2:

Pull gently to tighten, then flatten. Fold the end of the strip down and tuck it into the knot.

You can cut a bit of it off if it's too long.

STEP 3:

Keep wrapping until you get to the end of the strip.

Tuck the last bit of the strip into the pouch. You should be left with a cute little pentagon.

STEP 4:

Now to make this little pentagon into a star, very gently and slowly use your fingernail to press on the center of each of its edges. The star should puff out.

STEP 5:

And you should have a lovely little lucky star!

It may take some practise to get the star to puff out perfectly, but stick with it... you’ll get it!

If you are having a lot of trouble, try different papers, or try wrapping the strip of paper around without creasing it too much. This helps a bit!

i have problems pushing in the star because it keeps wrinkling and creasing up

Well that could be caused by different things, like your paper, or how tight you wrapped the knot. So my best bet is the knot, but I don't know so my advise might help or you may have to develop your technique a little bit more. contact me if you need any more help. (*<>*)

Well, how hard are you pushing, and are starting to push then it wrinkles up? Cuz if you start pushing then stop, it wont work at all.

you could try just pinching in the edges or use a wooden skewer or pliers.

All most any paper will.... but dont try making it with plastic wrap... (ITS VERY DIFFICULT!)

You say to use your finger nails to press on the centers of the edges of the pentagon but you show photos using your fingertips - do you mean nails or tips?

Nice Instructible, but i'm having trouble with the pressing part. I think its cuz of my wrapping around cuz whenever I have a little piece left, i try to tuck it in but it kind of messes the hole thing up and when i press, only a little pops up and the hole thing wrinkles up and falls apart.
