Paper Fighter (yes It Flies)

Intro: Paper Fighter (yes It Flies)

Make a lifelike and realistic fighter plane that actually flies!
Impress your friends, your dog/cat and yourself
need: 2 A4papers, 15 mins and some SKILLZ only

You will need:

2 A4 papers
Stapler, ruler, pencil
Above average skills at paper planes
5 minutes upward

Tips

Fold precisely, even half a millimeter makes a dfference
All folds symetrical except for the nose fold over
Use crisp paper without punched holes etc..

STEP 1: Fuselage

See pictures
note. easy steps are skipped (quite obvious)

STEP 2: Wings and Body

see pictures

note. 95% of this plane can be folded by aligning to previous folds somehow

STEP 3: Assembly

put both together!

STEP 4: TOSS IT!

Hold as shown in picture, Index at the end, thumb and 4th at each side, toss forward!

Tips

Rubberband launch is preferred

USE 2 rubber bands in series and pull back gently, sudden acceleration will kill the plane and it will fall like a dead bird

Using low gsm paper for the wings and high gsm paper for the body gives Exellent results
Aim 5 to 40 degrees to horizon

Inspiration from countless hours of boring school lessons, can fly and glide somewhat for above 20 metres (what do ya expect) if done correctly

ok, its a nice model, but i have no idea how to build this. just because the people making this are supposed to have "above average paper airplane making skills" doesn't mean that you should show us one picture for every six folds. Even the first step is not "quite obvious." it's still a nice model, just a bad instructable.

An A4 sheet is 210x297mm, which is 8.27x11.70 in. The ratio of the A4 length to A4 width is exactly the square root of 2 - which is one of the huge advantages of the international ISO paper standards (A4, A5, etc.) over North American formats (letter, legal, etc.) - when folding, say, an A4 sheet in half you get A5 sheet, with exactly the same ratio - the square root of 2, so the proportions (ratio of length over width) are invariant.

So, if you start with a letter size paper (8.5x11 in), cut off a strip along the longer side so that the width becomes even narrower, namely 7.78 in (= 11/sqrt(2)). This way you get a little smaller version of the A4 size paper (7.78x11 in) but with the same proportions.
