Intro: Paracord Key Chain Fob

In this instructable I'll show you how to make a survival keychain with paracord using the cobra knot.

STEP 1: What You'll Need

Paracord, ruler, lighter, knife

STEP 2: The Key Fob

Start by taking 11 inches of paracord and fold it in half and melt the 2 ends together with the lighter.

STEP 3: Starting the Cobra Knot

Place a long piece of paracord (about 3 feet of paracord) under the short looped piece then take the left side and put it over the looped piece and over the right piece of paracord. Then take the right side piece and put it over the looped piece and under the left piece. It should look like the picture.

STEP 4: 1st Knot

Take the right piece and put it over the loop then take the left piece and put it over then under (the pictures explain it better).

STEP 5: 2nd Knot

Do the same but in reverse for second knot (see pictures) then keep repeating knot 1 and 2 until you have complete the key fob.

STEP 6: Finished

Once you've finished the knots melt the ends with the lighter and press them onto the paracord (be carefully as its hot). To one end of the key fob add a karabiner and add your keys on a keyring to the other then it's done. Any feedback or comments appreciated, thanks for reading.

A good combination of pictures and easy to follow instructions. You even give cut sizes, well done! I'll use it today to introduce my 8 y/o son to paracord projects. One suggestion I have is to connect the short looped piece end to end, making more of a round loop instead of a tear drop shape. That way you can hide the joint in the middle of the knots instead of at the key ring end, since the melted joint tends to be the weak link. Also, if you have more then one color of cord you can punch it up a bit by using a bold color for the short looped piece... "One does want a hint of color".

Thanks, enjoy and thanks for suggestions they would defiantly make an improvement :)
