Hey. You clicked on my Paracord Strider Knife/Tool Wrap Instructable. I'm assuming that's what your here for. Well, lets get to it.

Nah..... I wouldn't do that. First a little information! YAY! WHO DOESN'T LOVE LEARNING?!?

A Strider Wrap is another of the many possible cordwrapping techniques available to make your knife grippier and warmer. This tutorial is on how to "Strider-wrap" your knives.

Step 1: Materials/Tools

Okay. Lets get some materials!

To wrap your knife handle, you will need:

Paracord (A lot- I would get at least 20' for a big knife or machete like me. You may not use it all, but its better than not having enough.)
Lighter or matches (Don't play with them!)
Vise (Optional but recommended.)
Coke or other caffeinated soda (MANDATORY!!!)
Cardboard
Tape (Any kind will do)
And finally, your knife and/or tool

That's really it.

Step 2: Prepare Knife

Okay, now that you have your materials and tools, its time for prep.

First, take your knife and put cardboard on either side of the blade. Tape the cardboard in place so that it is covering your knife blade.

If you have a vice, put the blade of the knife in the vice so that the cardboard is protecting the blade.

Step 3: Prepare to Wrap

Now take your cord and find the middle. If your knife has holes in the handle, use them by running the cord though the cord as shown. Pull the ends of the cord through the middle forming a girth hitch.

Step 4: Wrap an Under-Wrap

Take a length of paracord (70" for a medium-sized knife) cut it to size and gut it. If your not familiar with paracord, this means to take the white inner cores of the cord and pull them out. MAKE SURE IT'S CUT CLEAN THROUGH BEFORE DOING SO! Now, take that length and wrap it around the handle of your knife . This is your under-wrap. This provides a clean look after your done wrapping the handle.

Step 5: BEGIN THE WRAP!!!

Okay. Your prepped. Now you'll need to pull the cord to the other side of the handle. Now begins the repetition. Cross the cord. Cross again. Now pull the cords tight while pulling the ends to the other side of the handle.one of the cords will be on top and one on bottom of the knot. Make it so that they are both on the bottom of the knot as shown in the picture. Repeat on opposite side. Keep the wrappings the same.

Step 6: Keep on Wrapping.... Keep on Wrapping.... Keep on Wrapping....

Keep repeating this process until you reach the end of the under-wrap.

Step 7: Almost There...

Now tie an overhand knot and tighten. Take something like a pencil or a fid and use it to create space underneath the wrappings on the side of the overhand knot. Tuck the cord into the spaces and out in between the wraps.

Step 8: Create the Loop

My machete has some extra holes. Of course, not all knifes do. So you don't have to thread it though holes. Tie a square knot in the ends of the cord. Cut the ends.

Step 9: Time to NOT Play With Fire

If you are under 13, GET A PARENT TO DO THIS STEP!!!!!

Use matches or lighter to melt the cord and roll the molten cord on a surface that you don't mind ruining (e.g. paper towel on the table). It will be HOT! Don't touch it!

I fuse the knot so it can't come undone. I strongly recommenced doing this.

Step 10: DONE!!!

Now you can enjoy your new cord wrapped knife/tool. And, oh yeah, enjoy your coke!!!

EDIT: The lanyard should not be used while using the wrapped object. If the user were to have it slip out of their hand, the object might swing back and hit the user, resulting in serious injury. Thanks to JohnK3 for the information Be safe!
