Introduction: Rainbow Pastel Macaron Polymer Clay Bracelet

About: I'm a self taught polymer clay artist / sculptor making figurines, dolls and accessories. I sell my artworks in pop culture conventions and in my Etsy shop. I also make crafting and sculpting video tutorials…

Inspired from Alice in Wonderland, this bracelet is colorful, cute and a simple clay project. Personalise it with your name or get creative changing up the colors.

Step 1: Materials

  • Polymer clay. (Oven-baked modelling clay. I used Premo by Sculpey. Colors: white glitter, white translucent, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet)
  • Acrylic roller
  • Needle tool
  • Wire Cutter
  • Pliers
  • 9 pcs. Jump rings
  • 2 pcs. Beads
  • 8 pcs. Eye pins
  • 1 pc. Lobster clasp
  • Oven

Step 2: Sculpting Macaron Charms

I mixed each of my clay colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet with glitter white and translucent clay to get a pastel hue of each .

To get uniform sized macarons, I used a 1.5 cm diameter round clay cutter. I rolled a flat thin piece of white clay with an acrylic roller and cut out 6 pieces. These are the fillings of the macarons.

To make each macaron, I rolled flat each piece of colored clay to about 3 mm thickness and cut out 2 pieces of each color with the round clay cutter. I then surround the bottom part of each cut piece with a thin snake of clay and textured it with a needle tool. I put the white filling in between two pieces and inserted an eye pin.

I made a thin snake of white clay and cut it with a knife to form the letters E,A,T,M,E on each macaron. I also made a rainbow with thin snakes of the 6 pastel colors and placed that on the blue macaron and added 2 flat pieces of white clay on each end to form the clouds.

I baked the charms in an oven for 130 degrees celsius for 30 minutes. Bake yours according to your clay manufacturer's recommendations.

Step 3: Making the Bracelet

When the charms are cooled, I used the wire cutter to cut the excess wire leaving a 1 cm wire. Using a round nose pliers, I formed a loop on each charm. Then I attached each charm together with a jump ring.

To make an 8 inches length bracelet that will fit my wrist, I added 2 glass bead charms on both ends of the macarons.

Lastly, I add a jump ring on one end and a jump ring with clasp on the other end.
