I had a jacket with an almost identical rip. Very carefuly, I put a piece of gorilla tape on the inside, sticky side up, and laid the two ripped ends over top, pressed together. After wearing the jacket for over a year, it's held up marvelously!
I just completed my repair and it works, got that leather jack out of moth balls and the cool rides again. Thanks very much for a instructable like this!!!
Around steps 5 or 6, did you glue the other side and slip it under?
