Intro: Peanut Butter / Chocolate Cookie Balls

This is a recipe that I altered. The original recipe was called Cookie Balls and
was given to me my a friend ( I do not know where she got it).
I like Peanut Butter and Chocolate better than Chocolate and Peanut Butter.
So I altered the recipe. You can put more or less Peanut Butter in it to suit your taste.
Makes about 80 Balls.

STEP 1: Ingredients:

1lb 1oz Oreo Cookies (1 bag)
or about 1 lb chocolate sandwich cookies

1/4 cup Peanut Butter
6oz Cream cheese

Package of Almond Bark (vanilla)
Package of Chocolate Candy Coating (usually found next to the Almond Bark

Other accessories useful:
Food Processor
Pastry bag or ziploc bag
Dipping fork - found on cake decorating section on craft stores
or stores like Walmart. (that's where I got mine)

STEP 2: Mixing Ingredients

Add as many cookies to the food processor as it can hold and process, then
add more cookies and process until all are finely ground.
Then add 1/4 cup of peanut butter to the food processor mix, Next
add the 6 ounces of cream cheese and process until completely mixed.
using your clean hands or a plastic baggie on your and and press into pan.

STEP 3: Making the Balls

Refrigerate for about 1 hour. After time is up, take out and cut into
3/4 inch squares. Take each square and press into a ball.
DO NOT ROLL as they will crumble if you roll.
Then refrigerate again for about 1 hour.

If you want you can leave them as squares
or make both ball and squares.

STEP 4: Dipping (or As I Call It Making a Mess)

Follow instructions on package most say to microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes stir well.
If any lump left microwave for 15 second more and stir again. Repeat to smooth.

Take a few balls and drop into almond bark and take a spoon and cover ball with
Almond Bark then use dipping fork or regular fork and take out of bark and let drip.
Place on non-stick aluminum foil. DO NOT USE rack, you can see from the picture
what will happen ( not a pretty sight).

Melt chocolate candy coating the same as the almond bark. Take pastry bag or ziploc bag
and cut a tiny tiny piece off the corner and pour in the coating.
Twist bag and squeeze and apply 2 stripes across balls. Let dry about 15 minutes.

STEP 5: Finishing Touch

After applying the two stripes and drying 15 minutes. Put into your candy cup and enjoy.
I hope you like my first instructable.

These look yummy but do I have to add the pb?? I'm not a big peanut butter fan so I was just wondering
You can use skewers also to dip them in the chocolate as long as they are cold enough.
Have you tried this recipe using Nutter Butters? I bet that would be peanutastic!
instead of putting in oreo's, make a cookie mix in a cake pan then crumble it up (don't process it) then add in the peanut butter and cream cheese at the same time and mix with your hands until you can form a ball. it should help out the size of the ball and taste
this is very interesting recipe its similar to my cake balls!
They look beautiful. Great for giving (and snacking). Nice.
This recipe has been a huge hit for me at family parties and Holiday get-togethers!  I have family asking me for more every time!

I also mix together food coloring to white almond bark to make creative pastel colors for Easter, Christmas, and Valentine's Day.

Thanks for the GREAT idea!
Those look SOOOO good! Thanks for the idea!!!
This is CREEPY! My dads girlfriend Mary just made these exact cookie balls (she called them truffles.) Oh their soooooo goood! :[ I want one right now.
for a christmas version get red and green choclate it looks really nice
Oohh! Looks really good! I'm going to try to make some!
I was going to make some for V-day, how do they keep-just left in a container or should I refrigerate?
I leave them out in a container. I know I have had a few that lasted a week but the glossy shine fades. I make them a day or two ahead when I am taking them somewhere. Hope this helps.
EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have these at the Heritage Festival, a carnival, in the town I live! The people who sell them call them oreo balls. I am always stoked about the Heritage Festival because of these, I'm addicted, now i can make them myself!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....cough cough.........thanks for the awesome recipe
For Oreo Balls you add more cream cheese and leave out the peanut butter. But I like peanut butter.
Wow! These look and sound great. I think even I could make them. Thanks for the clear instructions.
I made these today with a couple of twists: I put a handful of peanut brittle into the food processor, ground it into a coarse sugar consistency, then rolled each cookie ball around in it prior to dipping. Then, I sprinkled a little bit of the ground up peanut brittle over each one after dipping. They taste like chocolate - peanut butter - Butterfinger cookie balls! YUM! I also made a batch in which I substituted cherry preserves for the peanut butter. Chocolate - cherry cookie balls! I had to cut back on the amount of preserves, though, as it is wetter than the pb. I used about four tablespoons for the recipe above (instead of the 1/4 cup pb). You could use raspberry, strawberry, or any flavor jam you like! Thanks for a great instructable! :)
My son and I tried this out. WOW! Yummy and easy to make. We were so inspired, we started dipping other stuff in the leftover chocolate!
Does Almond Bark have a generic name? I think I can find Oreos but I've never heard of almond bark. These look amazing! Your intro shot is so good I thought it was a stock photo of the commercial equivalent of what you are making, and it took step 5 to convince me that you'd made them. Mmmm... now I'm hungry.
