Introduction: Percussion Chime Re-String / New Strings

I purchased some used LP chimes with 98% of all the strings holding the bars were broken and missing. I wanted something that was easier than tying all 35 strings on each bar. I used some plastic price tag strings that worked great. Here is what I got and how I did it.

Supplies

Snap Lock 3" Pin Security Loop Snap Fastener (I could only find a 1000 count).

Step 1: Re-string the Chimes

Line up all the bars in the correct order and start putting the plastic fasteners around them. Make sure the shorter bars are on the longer side of the chime bar to keep the weight balanced with the mounting hole. I kept the lock part of the look fastener toward the top so it did not touch the bars.

Step 2: Completed

Here is the completed re-string of the chimes. Hope this helps.
