Introduction: Personal Alarm in a Tin
My main concern when making this alarm is its ability to disguise as day-to-day products, but not its loudness. Therefore, it will not be suitable for every emergency situations that you might encounter.
The video is unedited. You can't really hear the sound properly because I don't have any pro equipment - only an iPhone. But, with human ears, you can actually hear from thaaaaaaaat far away
Step 1: Gather the Materials
Things you'll need
- 3V buzzer
- 3V button battery
- Button battery holder
- Switch
- Eclipse mint tin
- Drill
- Solder
- Soldering iron
- Scissors
- Clipper
- Plier
- Glue
- Marker
- Electrical tape
Step 2: Mark and Drill
Use a marker to mark the holes for the speaker and an opening for the switch. Then use a drill to drill the holes (obviously).
Step 3: Cut and Solder
Half the positive (red) wire attached to the 3v buzzer and solder one of them to the middle leg of the 3-legged switch.
Step 4: Cut and Glue
Since my buzzer has these ears thing and they prevent it from sticking properly, I used a clipper to remove them. Glue the buzzer to the inside of the mint tin and use a plier to pull the red wire through the opening.
Step 5: Solder
Solder the red wire to the side leg of the switch. Then push the switch in place.
Step 6: More Soldering
Solder the battery holder to the wires.
Step 7: Insulate
Insulate the tin with some electrical tape
