Introduction: Personalized Kids Decor

Want a certain wall decor you saw online? but it's too expensive with shipping? or it's not in the color you want?
Well...that was the case of a friend we had.
She had little boys and wanted to decorate their room...but the picture she saw online was well...not in Sri Lanka...and shipping would cost! also..she wanted brighter colors...so she asked me and my sister to help...cause that's what we do! :-)
We make personalized items according to each individual!
These steps can be taken for any room decor you choose and it's very easy :-)

Step 1: Materials

Sun board or luan plywood 1/8"
color printer
Mod podge / varnish
glue
jig saw/ sharp knife
aluminum sticker sheet
acrylic paint

Sun board is a pvc sheet which can be cut with a jigsaw....also if very thin with a craft knife or scissor.

Step 2: Select Your Images and Off You Go!

Go online and select your free images....use photo shop if needed. Print it out and cut leaving a gap. Glue to sun board. Paint trees and other necessary spots if certain pictures are unclear. Give one coat of varnish/ decoupage/ or white glue. If it's 1/8" sun board you could cut shape with a craft knife or sharp scissor...if you are using luan plywood then cut shape with jigsaw and sand the corners.
Once you have sanded again paint the edges so that it looks 2D.  Paint to match the colors on top. Give a final coat of varnish!

Step 3: Road Way

I took a close look at the picture and noticed that the road way was done in sections...So I did the same!
I drew curves and straight roads and cut the board...than I painted the whole thing grey. I had a sheet of aluminum/(silver  mirror like sticker  ) and ran 1 1/2" strips through the hand shredder so I would get uniform sizes...if you don't have a shredder no problem...you can just cut with a scissor :-D.

I also punched out circles from the mirror sticker sheet and glued them to the trees.

Now all you have to do is give a few coats of varnish so that all will be nice  and secure.
To fix to wall you simply add double stick tape and glue to wall! done!

Isn't it a really a simple solution to any wall decor? and so quick too! much quicker than waiting for the real thing and definitely lighter on the pocket! lol
