Phone Controlled Watch Dogs Wrench Mask
Intro: Phone Controlled Watch Dogs Wrench Mask
My son came across "Wrench" character from watch dogs and thought it would be a really good idea for us to try and make a copy of the mask, we built this mask together and he is really happy with it - best part is that you control the eyes from any phone! If you like this project please vote for us :)
STEP 1: Supplies
You will need
1- 3D printer
2- MAX 7219 LED Matrix and driver, available on EBay, Amazon, AliExpress, etc
3- Arduino Uno
4- Bluetooth module
5- Any old pair of goggles / sunglasses
6- A piece of black fabric (for the eyes
7- A piece of any mesh like fabric (also for the eyes)
STEP 2: 3D Print the Mask
STEP 3: Attach the Goggle Part to the Mask
the 3D printer mask had an attachment for the glasses, however this part fell apart - so we used an old pair of laser protective goggles, they fit the mask perfectly, so we took off the lenses and super glues it to the mask
STEP 4: Covering the Eyes
We tried various things, 3D printed fabric, black fabric, paper, and settles on a piece of black fabric and a piece of mesh (got it from a bag that held some protective gear)
We super glued all pieces together, once done we cut out the extras
STEP 5: Coloring the Spikes
STEP 6: Electronics
We followed the above simple schematics to connect the Arduino to the BT modules and the LED matrix
STEP 7: Testing to Make Sure Everything Is Working Fine
STEP 8: Code
STEP 9: Bluetooth
You can install any of the Bluetooth test apps, the code I have has 8 different expressions, so you can send any number between 0 & 7 to change the expression - this one seems to work well

STEP 10: Programming Different Faces
I found this LED Matrix Generator that we used along with the Watch Dogs 2 Cosplay guide to generate the faces, you can generate your own, IMAGES array controls the first eye, IMAGES2 controls the second eye, so make sure to enter an array for both

You could get shapeways or a service like that to do it for you.

I'm confused. I have the circuit built but can't seem to change the LED matrices. What values would I have to send? Hex? String? Nothing I've tried works so far.

The LED matrix isn't se through but the fabric is, so my son had to tilt his head a little to see but could see with it
