Introduction: Photoshop: Water Droplets
I will be taking you through, Step-by-Step, a tutorial on how to create water-droplets on an image of your choice using Photoshop! The Image in this step in the final product I ended up with. Enjoy!
Step 1: Find an Image
First, you will need to find an image that you are looking to add the water effect to.
Step 2: Elliptical Marquee
Next, you will select your "Elliptical Marquee" tool and create a small "bubble-like shape" that will later become your water-droplet.
Step 3: Creating the Drop
Now, you need to make a life-like "shape" of what you thing your water-droplet would look like.
Step 4: Adding a Gradient
This time, you need to select your foreground color as black and your background color as white. Then you need to take your Gradient tool and select the Black-White Gradient. As shown in the picture you need to drag it across the selected area.
Step 5: Drop Shadow
On the same layer, double click in the blue area in the "layers" tab inside of the selected layer. This will open up an effects box like shown above and I need you to check off Drop Shadow on the left panel.
After you select a drop shadow, change the following:
- Opacity = 50%
- Angle = 158°
- Distance = 7 px (pixels)
- Size = 5 px (pixels)
Step 6: Inner Shadow
On the same layer, double click in the blue area in the "layers" tab inside of the selected layer. This will open up an effects box like shown above and I need you to check off Inner Shadow on the left panel.
After you select a drop shadow, change the following:
- Opacity = 75%
- Angle = 158°
- Distance = 5 px (pixels)
- Size = 5 px (pixels)
Step 7: Brush Tool
Select your Brush tool and set your Foreground color to White!
Step 8: Adding Your "Glow"
Create a New Layer, and from here, just click once, or if your brush is too small, make a small circle inside the water.
Step 9: Finished Water
Your droplet should look something like this when you are done.
