Introduction: Pick-Pocket Proof Backpack Made From Scratch

About: Hey guys, I'm just a kid that has a really big interest in everything that to do with electronics, technology and innovation. I joined this website to find more people like me; at my school, there aren't many …

Step 1: Materials

You are going to need:
Scissors
Carpenters Tape
Duct Tape
String
Velcro
Hot Glue Sticks
Hot Glue Gun
A Shoe Box
A Sharpie
And a Ruler

Step 2: First Take the Shoebox and Open It Completely

That means open the sides up too.

Step 3: Now Cut Off the Excess Card Board

The excess cardboard is the flabs in the corners. You will need the cardboard on the sides for the latches.

Step 4: Take One of the Corners and Cut Off the Edge

You will need the bigger piece later. Now plug in you hot glue gun.

Step 5: Mark the Spits Where You Will Hit Glue Velcro Onto

I recommend three spots on each edge.

Step 6: Cut the Velcro Into Squares

Make sure you have both types of Velcro. Be sure you've already plugged in your hot glue gun.

Step 7: Hot Glue the Velcro Onto the Spots

During the last couple instructions, your hot glue gun should've been warming up. Now hot glue the velcro onto the spots that you previously marked.

Step 8: Mark and Cut Through 8 Holes in the Corners of the Box and Cover

Sorry, you might not be able to see the holes in the first picture. The point is, punch eight holes in the eight corners. Please Note: You will need to pull string through these holes so make sure they are big enough.

Step 9: Pull String 1 Through Holes 1-4

Pull the string through holes 1-4 in the way you would a backpack strap.

Step 10: Please Note:

It is important that you add a little extra string because when the backpack opens, it will need some leeway on string.

Step 11: Take the Two Ends of the Strings and Tie Them Together

Sorry, I forgot the name of the type of knot I used. Just tie it together the best you can.

Step 12: Repeat With Holes 5-8

Step 13: Decorate With Duct Tape

Step 14: Remember the Flab If Cardboard?

Take that, fold it in half, tape it over the hole in the shoe box and enjoy your Pick-Pock Proof Backpack.
