Introduction: Ping Pong Ball Shooter

Have a bunch of everyday items around? Have a little time on your hands? Then why don’t you make a ping pong ball shooter? It’s easy to make, safe, but still fun to shoot.

Step 1: Materials

1. About a square foot of cardboard.

2. A decent amount of hot glue.

3. One new pencil.

4. One ping pong ball.

5. 2 fairly large rubber bands

Step 2:

Cut two 3.5 x 7.75 pieces of cardboard and hot glue them together

Step 3:

Cut two 3.5 inch parts of pencils. (Don’t use the eraser or the tip.)

Step 4:

Poke two holes 1.5 inches down and 0.5 inches off each side of the cardboard. The pencils will go here.

Step 5:

Put the pencils through the holes so they are barely sticking out the bottom.

Step 6:

Make two square cardboard pieces 1 ½ inches in side length

Step 7:

Make lines ¼ inch from the end and 1 ⅛ inch on each side from the end of the cardboard. There should be 1 ¼ inches between them. Glue the cardboard pieces you just made there at a slight angle towards the edges.

Step 8:

Hot glue two circles around the pencils around ¾ inches up the base.

Step 9:

Cut four 1 x 1 inch squares and glue them on top of each other. Then cut two 1 x 3 inch and glue them on top of each other. Then take the stacked 1 x 1s and glue them on top of the stacked 1 x 3s.

Step 10:

Glue two rubber bands to the object you made earlier about ½ inch from each end. (Seen in previous picture.)

Step 11:

Attach the rubber bands to the pencils under the hot glue ring and put the object behind the two pieces of cardboard so that the rubber bands are slightly taunt.

Step 12:

When firing pull back the object the rubber bands are on with a ping pong ball in ready position. Then let go and fire.
