Introduction: Pizza Bagel
Pizza bagels are the ultimate after school snack. They're easy, ready in minutes, filling and kid-cooking-skills friendly. Here's how I like to make 'em.
Step 1: Ingredients
- bagels
- shredded mozzarella cheese
- tomato sauce
- spices (optional)
- pepperoni (optional)
Step 2: Slice and Toast Bagel
Carefully cut the bagel in half and pop it into the toaster for some light toasting. This step is key if you don't want the bagel to be all soggy from your sauce when you bake it later on.
Step 3: Sauce
Spoon some tomato sauce to your bagel. I like a lot of sauce, but you should put on however much you like.
Step 4: Cheese
After the sauce comes the all important cheese. Sprinkle grated mozzarella over the top of the sauce.
You've just combined the holly trinity of ingredients - no, not a mixture of onions, celery and carrots known in french as a mirepoix; but bread, sauce and cheese to form a basic pizza!
Step 5: Add Toppings
Sprinkle on some spices like powdered garlic, oregano and crushed red pepper if you'd like to doctor up your pizza bagel a bit.
Finally, if you're a pepperoni fan, now's the time to add some slices on the very top.
Step 6: Bake
Set your toaster oven to bake and turn the temperature knob to 400.
Then, cover the toaster oven baking dish with tinfoil so that the cheese doesn't make a mess inside the toaster oven and throw your pizza bagels on in there.
Step 7: Cook and Eat
Cook the pizza bagels until the cheese gets all bubbly and brown in some spots, or, until the pepperoni gets crispy.
As the small child in the Ellios Pizza commercial used to say, "When the cheese goes blub blub blub, it's done."
Take it out and enjoy the perfect snack!

You can eat whatever you wish, whenever you wish. It's not like it's a sin, let alone a law. Heck, I eat Cheesecake with my Pizza breakfast and a side of Bacon and cream soda. Yeah.

Couldn't you make these in a microwave? It'd be easier in my opinion, and a bit less time consuming. I mean, just toast a bagel, add the ingredients and stick it in the microwave, right...? No?

This is actually a pretty good idea for a snack.

I make these with my nephew. We used the mini bagels though, he liked the idea of being able to put whatever he wanted on them.

English muffins IMO are better. These pizzas are great though

While I do love pizza bagels, I have to disagree about them being the best. Pita pizzas are a step above, in my opinion.

I share your opinion but maybe it´s because I love thin crust pizza and I have never been very fond of bagels, they are like too bulky for my taste. BTW, though I have made pita pizzas with exactly the same ingredients she uses in this recipe, just yesterday a friend of mine arrived to my house starving and I prepared him a pita pizza covered with home-made pesto sauce (I just blended basil, walnuts, olive oil, salt, pepper, parmesan cheese, Italian herbs, and onion since I ran out of garlic) and I added some chopped mushrooms and he just loved it (yes, I know, he was starving, but I know he meant it).

Ooh what about pizza on ciabatta?? Or maybe pizza on a pretzel bun! The possibilities! They are endless!
