Intro: Planting Tree Ellen White Way (EGW)

This is just our first test on planting the way Ellen White gave instruction, we have modified a few things and as we learn more we will share our ways.

STEP 1: First Dig a Hole

Dig a hole 3 x 3 x 3 feet.Notice we put top soil middle and deepest soil apart from each other.

STEP 2: Rocks for Drainage

Put 3 rocks as pictured down that will help with drainage.

STEP 3: Put Down Grass Cuttings

We put down grass cuttings here but becarefull not to use grass that will grow again.

STEP 4: Getting Soil Ready

Mix now top soil and compost

STEP 5: Add Organic Fertilizer

Add Organic fertilizer or kelp powder.

STEP 6: Add Rock Phosphate

Add Rock phosphate and you can also add peat moss.

STEP 7: Mix All This Good

You can also mix this all together before and then throw in hole.

STEP 8: Then Add Layer of Small Rocks

Now add layer of small rocks the size of your hand.

STEP 9: Add Another Layer of Top Soil and One Good Size Rock

Now you can add another layer of top soil only and then one good size rock in middle where you will put down tree.

STEP 10: Put Down Tree

Put tree on the rock placed in middle then add more topsoil and your mix of compost peat moss etc.Notice that the tree grafting side must face north.

STEP 11: Now Water

Now add water.This is just a first test on me planting tree this way and will have more explanations as i plant more trees and get more experience.any questions email me at jvw679@gmail.com

Hi there, I've been desperately looking for these instructions. Thank you so much. I do have a question though. When it comes to fruit trees we would use this method. How about just planting vegetables and root crops. What would be the method that she recommends. I look forward to your feedback. Thank you and God bless.

We planted 36 trees like this in our orchard. Amazing results. Luckily, we used a backhoe to dig all those holes. Then ran drip irrigation to all trees. The soil wouldn't perk, so we actually connected all of the trees (bottom of holes) with 4" drain line. Excess water drains out. The few leafed trees on the right were purchased locally. All of the rest were bare root stock. This is as of 2013. This last summer, some of the trees already had fruit. We didn't lose a single tree. Near Moscow, ID.

It is a lot of work yes sir but the results im told is very good.Will keep posted on what the difference is to normal planting.
