Introduction: Playstation 5 Set Up

This set of instructions will guide the reader on how to set up a Playstation 5 gaming console with simple step by step instructions on what to do and how to do it.

Step 1: Step 1: Attaching the Base Piece

Due to the consoles wavy exterior design, it cannot be simply placed on a surface like older Playstation models, as it would likely damage the console. Therefore the Playstation 5 comes with a base piece that can be attached to position the console horizontally or vertically.

For this set up, we will be placing the console in the horizontal position. Rotate the base piece until it is in a "twenty to three" position with the larger side of the base piece in the "three" position. Place the console gently with the rear side facing up.

On the bottom exterior plate there is a set of markings which indicate where to place the clips of the base piece.

Clip in the base piece onto the the square markings at the start and end of the markings and make sure it is firmly in place before placing the console down.

Step 2: Step 2: Connecting the HDMI Cable and the AC Power Cord

On the rear side of the console there is a port labelled "HDMI".

Using the HDMI cable, insert one end of the cable into the HDMI port on the console, and the other end into your Television.

Next you need to insert the AC cord. On the far left hand side of the console you will see the AC IN connector which appears as two conjoined circular shaped ports.

Insert the appropriate end of the AC cord into the AC IN connector and the other end into an electrical power supply.

It is important that you make sure all connections are secure correctly before turning on the power supply.

Step 3: Step 3: Turn on the TV and Select HDMI Input

After the necessary cables are connecting and the console has a power supply connected to it, you can proceed to turn on the TV and select the HDMI input.

If you have an older TV you can find the HDMI input by pressing the source button at the top of the remote control and scrolling through the options until you find the HDMI.

If you have a newer smart TV you may find the input b y pressing the home button and selecting the HDMI or "Playstation" tab.

If you have an older TV then make sure to note that you will not be receiving the full experience of the PS5 and may run into issues.

It is suggested to use a TV with a screen that supports 4K HDR, and LED or QLED vision.

Step 4: Step 4: Turn on the Console

The power button is located above the disc input port on the front of the console on the far left hand side.

Once pressed you will hear a beeping sound and the light indicators will blink blue before turning white which indicates the console is on.

Step 5: Step 5: Connecting the Wireless Controller

In order to operate the console you must pair the console with the wireless controller.

On front of the console there are two ports centered in the middle of the console.

The larger of the ports is the USB Type A port. Insert the appropriate end of the charging cable into this port and the other into the USB port on the controller.

The controller will be paired with the PS5 and begin charging. To turn on the controller press the Playstation logo button on the controller.

Step 6: Step 6: Fitting the Console to Your Liking

Once all this is done you can set the language, add your Playstation account, configure the internet etc. on the console to enjoy your own experience with your new Playstation 5!
