Ever been just a little too hot, but you didn't want to turn on the A/C? Now there's the Plug-in Portable Air Conditioner (Pipac)! It will provide you with a small blast of cold air, just enough to cool you down. The best part is that it doesn't use freon and it only takes up 12 volts!

Step 1: Materials

1. A medium sized Tupperware or Rubbermaid container
2. Some thin foamboard
3. A PC case fan (preferably 12 volts)
4. A transformer ( 120 volts AC to 12 volts DC)
5. A Ziploc bag (size depends on the size of your container)
6. Electrical tape
7. A packing or Exacto knife
8. A pencil
9. A ruler
10. Water
11. A freezer
12. A lot of packing tape

Step 2: Lid Assembly

First, we will assemble the lid. Measure the sides of your container and cut a pice of foamboard out with these dimensions. Next, measure your case fan. Reduce the measurements by about 1/8" and cut out a square with these new dimensions. Finally, cut two identical right triangles out of the remaining foamboard. Measure the hypotenuse, and make a square with these dimensions. Assemble these as shown to create the vent for the air. Cut a hole in the lid that is the size of the vent and tape the vent over the hole. DO NOT INSTALL THE CASE FAN YET!

Step 3: Case Fan

Next, we will work with the case fan. First, strip the ends of the wires so the silver wire inside is visible. Next, do the same to the transformer (cut off the input piece first). Carefully match the wires up together and plug it into a wall socket. If the fan doesn't spin, that's OK, just reverse the wires. When the fan is working, unplug it and connect each wire separately with electrical tape. Next, wrap a piece of electrical tape around both of these, ensuring the wires stay together. Finally, install the case fan on the lid with tape (making sure the case fan is blowing DOWN).

Step 4: Almost Done!

This is by far the easiest step in the whole project. Just tape an edge of the lid to the container (tape outside and inside) and tape the wires along the edge of the lid (you can see this in the pictures for step 3).
