Introduction: Pocket-Sized Amp 1W
This project is fun and useful! You can use it to increase the volume of your headphones, speakers or you could even use it in coalition with an electric guitar. It will roughly take you around 2 hours to complete.
Step 1: Supplies
You will need:
- Project box
- JB07-1-1-1 chip
- (2x) 220u electrolytic capacitor
- (2x) 10u electrolytic capacitor
- 47 n ceramic capacitor
- 8 pin DIL socket
- 1k carbon film resistor
- 10k potentiometer
- 10R carbon film resistor
- SPST Toggle switch
- 9v battery
- 9v battery clip
- Circuit board
Tools:
- Soldering iron
- Heat shrink
- Glue gun
- Multimeter
- Solder
You can buy all these parts in a pre-assembled kit or you can buy them all separately.
Step 2: Assemble the Circuit
Assemble the circuit in your desired way. I added a toggle switch and a potentiometer to control volume and power.
Step 3: Drilling Holes
You then need to drill two holes. I used a 6mm drill bit and a 4mm one. Then you need to bolt the toggle switch to the lid and hot glue the potentiometer in the hole.
Step 4: Audio Jacks
The next step is to add the audio jacks in the input and output sections. Solder them into the correct place.
Step 5: Final Adjustments
Using a file, make a small dent on either side where the wires leading out to the jacks will go. I then used a pen style engraver to write "in" or "out" on the appropriate end.
Step 6: Finished
Finished! Now you are ready to plug your amp into your IPod, speaker, headphones or whatever else you want!
