This is a 98%* waterproof holder for anything that fits in it, suitable for everything that fits in: money, matches, cotton thread/needles, emergency fishing equipment.... the uses are many & almost endless.

STEP 1: Ingredients & Tools

You will need:

Ingredients:

-Two spent shotgun shells (if you don't have a shotgun, you can always pick up ones left by shooters at a hide, or just wherever they frequent) (You could try a live cartridge if you really want. ;-) (I've dissected about 3, or 4 which shooters have dropped))

Tools:

-Knife, or scissors
-Pen (Optional)
-Two hands

STEP 2: Cut 'em Up!

(Optional) Mark with the pen about 1cm. from the top, or from the point that the edge is ruffled, on both cartridges.

-Then cut off the top. (With your favourite knife, or scissors ;-) )

-Now cut a slit down one cartridge on both sides. -remember, you only need to do it to one cartridge, and you failed if you did it to both: -that is, an EPIC FAIL! =D

STEP 3: 2-in-1

Now slide the cartridge that you cut the slits in, into the other cartridge, make minor adjustments so it's straight/square. Enjoy, find something to put into it! :-)

STEP 4: That Is All I Have to Say....

Enjoy! Find something to put it in! Put it in your pocket! Carry it with you!

cool thing to use. I have found that a 16 ga will fit snugly in a 12 ga shell. you can hide matches in them like I do

Age shouldn't be a limiter. My son got his first .410 at age 6, and was shooting larger caliber within a few years. He must have gone through a few thousand shotgun shells before he was 18. I didn't start quite that early, but my wife's tenth birthday present was a Life Membership in the NRA and a 12-gauge, so she was cranking out empty shells pretty early, too. CCWs, of course, are usually limited to 18 or 21 -- 18 in my State, I think.

Good instructable -- and it should be pretty close to water-tight as long as it doesn't get dunked for a while. But be careful where you carry something like this. In certain anti-gun areas, like D.C. or Baltimore, if some cop happens to see this you're likely to spend a few hours in a smelly cop station sorting out whether it violates their stupid laws. D.C. requires ammo to be "registered" and is a bit fuzzy about what constitutes "ammunition." To a sane person, this obviously is NOT ammo, but we're talking about places that are not entirely sane .... I once got detoured from around the D.C. Beltway because of a truck accident, and they sent us down through D.C. A while later we realized that we had a couple of boxes of live shotgun shells since we were coming back from a Retriever Field Trial competition with our dogs. No shotgun, fortunately, just leftover, but LIVE, shells. Fortunately we didn't have an accident or get a ticket, since D.C. has a mandatory felony conviction for guns or ammo that isn't registered in DC. You might avoid the year in jail, but you won't avoid their ten-thousand-dollar fine. I know one girl that wore a gold-plated bullet on her necklace -- obviously not live ammo, no powder, no primer cap. But it looked kinda "real," and she spent nearly an hour on the street with some moronic D.C. cop, and others on his radio channel, before she actually got to continue on her tour of the Smithsonian. Dirty Harry reminded us that a man's got to know his limitations. He also should have mentioned that it's important that we remember that OTHERS can be severely limited, also. That said, this device is NOT ammo, but still -- be sensitive to the fact that there are a lot of crazy people out there, and some of them pass laws, and wear badges. Great instructable -- and keep in mind that bigger shells can be had, with some luck. They make a 10-gauge shotgun shell, too, though they are fairly rare nowadays. If you can scrounge two of those old shells, you have some serious storage.

ive done this many times before but i used a 20 gauge shot shell and slid it into a 12 gauge shot shell
