Poor Man's GPS Mount
Intro: Poor Man's GPS Mount
A rainy morning can be very useful, provided that I coudln't go with the bike I decided to build a mount for my GPS in a safe and cheap way. I had seen some home-made mounts but they were too heavy, metal parts, ..., and why not with a plastic bottle?
STEP 1: Looking for Ingredients
I neded some rigid but not to heavy surface. Some minutes later I came with the ingredients
- 1 Aquarius or Nestea 1L Bottle, the sides are quite rigid and thin.
- 1 Utility knife
- 1 Scissors
- 1 Permanent Marker
- 1 Elastic strip (from an old jacket), mine has a locker to adjust it better
- 1 Piece of foam (mine is from isolation foam from the heating system pipes)
- 2 zip ties (got mine from packaging stuff, not in the photo)
STEP 2: Hands On
Then make 4 holes, for my Geko are fine 2 in the bottom and 2 near the logo. Tie the elastic strip through the holes.
STEP 3: Setting Up the Monster
Now we have to attach it to the handlebar. Make 4 holes in the center and put the zip ties and the foam.
STEP 4: That's All Folks
And that's all, I can only say it is pretty stable and have been using it for years.

Nice idea. Using a box instead just a simple base protects the gps from jumping out (that it happenned to me several times when hard riding :D)

Cheers, going to make one for my sports cam. And you've got me thinking of using a complete pouring end circumference to make it rain proof
