Introduction: Poppy Hair Clip (Trolls)

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

This hair clip would be so easy to make and wear faster than you can say "It's hug time!"

Step 1: Materials

Here's what you will need to make it:

  • a copy of Poppy printed from the Internet
  • a bottle cap
  • glue gun
  • ribbons
  • scissors
  • feathers (not shown)
  • a hair clip (not shown)
  • sewing machine (not shown)
  • matching or contrasting thread (not shown)

Step 2: Prep Image & Bottle Cap

First, find an image of Poppy online. I find mine via Google Image search. Then, print it out, and cut it to fit inside the bottle cap. Then, use Dimensional Magic to fill in the cap, and let dry completely.

Step 3: Prep Ribbons

While the Dimensional Magic dries, it's time to work on the ribbons. Cut at least 4 pieces of ribbon about 4 to 5 inches. I used 3 different colors to coordinate with the color scheme. Then, stitch them together using your sewing machine. I stitched them together with the button sewing foot, set to the 0 stitch length.

Step 4: Add Feathers

You can also add feather to the ribbons, like how I did here, for a fun added texture! Then, just stitch all the layers together so that it looks more like a flower.

Step 5: Attach Bottle Cap

Then, attach the bottle cap to the front of the flower with a dab of hot glue.

Step 6: Add Hair Clip

Finally, use one more dab of hot glue to attach a hair clip to the back of the flower, let dry completely, and it's ready to wear!

Step 7: Done!

I made this hair clip of one of my sister's friend's daughter's birthday. She just turned 4, and she's into Trolls alot, especially with Princess Poppy!
