Introduction: Portable Motion Sensor
Hello, I made a portable battery powered motion sensor that I would like to share with you.
What you will need:
- Arduino Uno
- Keyes motion sensor
- Wires
- LEDs (red, green blue)
- Breadboard
Step 1: Connecting the Motion Sensor
You will see that the motion sensor has three pins. These pins are marked as +, -, s. There is no need to wire power to the breadboard so connect + on the sensor to 5V on the arduino, - on the sensor to one of the three of the GNDs on the arduino, and connect s on the sensor to digital pin three on the arduino, as shown in the picture.
Step 2: Connecting the Leds
Connect the red led to digital pin 12, green led to digital 11, and blue led to digital 10. Each one with a 220 ohm resistor connected to it as shown in the picture.
Step 3: Connecting the 9V Battery
Connect the positive side of the battery to VIN on the arduino and the negative side to the remaining ground on the arduino. Add a switch if you want to be able to turn it on and off. I did, as shown in the picture.
Step 4: How to Use
What it will do: If it detects motion the red led will turn on and stay on so you can leave it on at home or where ever and if you come back and the red led is on... SOMEONE HAS BEEN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Otherwise, the green will be on, you are fine. If the green and red are on, SOMEONE HAS BEEN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can put it in a box for looks to. I put mine in a shoe box.
