Introduction: Poseable Paper Dog
this idea came from a mixture of 3 things. One was an old robot instructable, one was an image from Pinterest and the other was my challenging myself to make something just from strip's of paper. This is the result of that experiment.
Step 1: Step 1: Cut Your Straw
cut your straw into three segments. 2, 2 inch pieces and 1, 1 1/2 inch piece
Step 2: Step 2: Cut Your Paper
cut the strip's of paper 1/2 inch wide by 11 1/2 inches long.
Step 3: Step 3:
cut a two inch piece of paper, then punch holes in it.
Step 4: Step 4:
put your straw through the holes you just punched. This will be the body of your dog.
Step 5: Step 5:
cut a piece of paper 1 1/2 inch long from your strip's and punch two holes in this. Then attach this to the two straws as seen in the photo. This is now the neck of your dog.
Step 6: Step 6:
cut a 1 1/2 inch piece of paper and punch two holes in it. Then attach it to the back side of the neck as seen in the photo. This is now the back of your dogs head.
Step 7: Step 7: the Nose
cut a piece of paper 2 3/4 inch long, punch two holes in this. Find the center and draw a triangle for the nose then two curly lines for the mouth. Fold this just to the sides of where you've drawn your nose as shown in the photograph above. Then attach this to the straw facing the front side of your dog. This is his nose.
Step 8: Step 8: the Eyes
cut a two inch piece from your strip's. Draw two eyes at the center of this, and punch holes in both sides. Then attach this to the top straw so it rests over the nose as seen in the photos.
Step 9: Step 9: the Ears
cut two 1 inch long pieces. Punch a hole in the top of these and then use your scissors to round the bottom edge of these pieces. For best results it's best to hold the two pieces together and cut them at the same time. These are the ears, now just attach one to each side of the straw.
Step 10: Step 10: the Body
cut a two inch long piece. Punch two holes in this, then attach it to the middle straw as shown in the photo. This is your dogs chest.
Step 11: Step 11: the Tail
cut a 1 1/2 inch long piece of paper, punch a single hole in this, then use your scissors to taper this into a somewhat triangular shape as seen in the photo. Then attach is to the last straw.
Step 12: Step 12: the Back
cut a 2 inch long piece from your strip's. Punch two holes in this. Then attach it to the last straw as seen in the photograph. This becomes your dogs behind. :)
Step 13: Step 13: the Legs
cut four 1 1/2 inch long pieces of paper. Fold the bottom of these, holding all for together as one. Then punch a hole in the end opposite that which you just folded. Attach one of these to the middle and last straw on both sides of your dog. He now has legs and is completed.
Step 14: Final Thoughts and Notes
once completed you may want to trim the straws down some what, and even adjust the paper pieces.
You should also note that I used a heart shaped hole punch throughout, this is important as the v at the top of the heart acts to stop the pieces from moving freely around the straw. So for best results use a heart shaped hole punch and thinner straws.
Step 15: Tools
you'll need paper, a straw, scissors, a heart shaped hole punch, a pen, and a paper trimmer.
Step 16: Paper Types
while these will work with any paper the best part to use is card stock.
