Introduction: Print-in-place Palm Ratchet Screwdriver Knob

About: I am interested in designing something curious but functional. Please take a look at my summary page, https://shiura.com/dfab/index-en.html

3D printed palm ratchet knob (stubby screw driver handle)

  • Print-in-place : Just print, and you are all set. Assembly work is not necessary.
  • Durable ratchet mechanism : Tapered ratchet gear makes it not only easy to print but also sturdy operation. Pressure from your palm to the screw bit effectively aligns and locks the ratchet gear.
  • Two types : 1/4inch (6.35mm) hexagonal socket and 3/8inch (9.5mm) square drive.

Supplies

It is better to have

  • Silicone lubricant spray
  • gas lighter or heat gun

Step 1: Print

Just print the model with supplied posture. Do not use support structure.

Step 2: Adjust the Socket Holes

(hexagonal socket type only) The hex socket is designed to be very tight. If you can not insert your driver bit, heat the end of hex shaft up and push it into the socket.

Step 3: Lubrication

For the better ratchet feelings, spray the silicone lubricant to the gap.
