Harvesting rainwater is a growing trend and is a great project for urban dwellers. Here, we will teach you to make your own harvesting kit using your fire escape or roof access.

Step 1: Step 1

What you will need: scissors, zip ties, plastic bottle(s) wire mesh basket
* all materials can be purchased at Home Depot
Cut the bottom off of your plastic bottle(s).

Step 2: Step 2

Bend the bars of your basket to fit the head of your bottle(s).

Step 3: Step 3

Place the head of your bottle(s) through the bars of the basket.

Step 4: Step 4

For added security, place a zip tie around the bottle(s) and attach it to the basket. Place a zip tie around each corner of your basket and secure to the bars of your fire escape.

Step 5: Finished!

Now you have your very own rainwater harvesting kit.
