Introduction: Pumpkin Pie Pi

Pumpkin pie: classic, easy, and delicious. An original pumpkin pie with a twist of chocolate crust, chocolate chips, and of course pi!! Piping the numbers is a bit time consuming, but the end result is definitely worth it! Over 100 numbers of pi making up the symbol pi. Here's how to make it:

Step 1: Making the Pie

Ingredients

·For The Crust

o1 ½ cups chocolate graham crackers (finely crushed)

o6 tablespoons butter (melted)

o½ cup pecans (finely chopped)

·For the Pie

o1 can (15 oz.) pumpkin puree, canned

o¾ cups granulated sugar

o¾ teaspoon Chinese five spice powder

o½ teaspoon cinnamon

o¼ teaspoon ginger

o¼ teaspoon nutmeg

o1 teaspoon vanilla

o1 ½ teaspoon cornstarch

o1 ½ cups whole milk

o2 large eggs

o½ cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

Directions

For the crust:

1.) In a medium bowl, mix the graham crackers, butter, and pecans with a fork until well blended.

2.) Press mixture into a 9 ½ inch pie pan. Set aside.

For the pie:

1.)Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

2.)In a large mixing bowl, combine pumpkin, sugar, Chinese five spice, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, vanilla, and cornstarch. Using a mixer, mix for three minutes on medium-low speed.

3.)Add the milk and mix for two minutes on medium-low speed.

4.) Add the eggs and mix for two minutes on medium-low speed.

5.) Stir in the chocolate chips.

6.) Pour pie mixture into pie pan. Place on the middle rack of the oven for fifteen minutes.

7.) Lower the oven temperature to 375 degrees and cook for an additional 30-40 minutes or untila toothpick inserted in center of pie comes out clean.

8.) Let cool for one hour before serving.

Step 2: Making Pi

1.) Print out your favorite Pi symbol
2.) Trace the outline of Pi on a plain piece of paper
3.) Outline Pi with the digits of Pi

Step 3: Making Pi Beautiful!

1.) Melt chocolate in the microwave until smooth
                 Note: You can use any chocolate you like! I decided to use white chocolate and dyed it green :)
2.) Put chocolate in either a decorating bag with writing tip or just a plastic bag with a small corner cut
3.) Put wax paper over the pi symbol. Trace over all the numbers with chocolate
4.) When finished, place wax paper in the freezer for about ten minutes

Step 4: Putting Pi on the Pie

1.) Cut out the same pi symbol you used for the outline of the pi numbers
2.) Place in the center of the pie and gently press down
3.) Slowly peel back the paper
4.) Once paper is removed, you should now have the pi symbol in your pie!

Step 5: Putting the Numbers Inside Pi

1.) Remove the pi numbers from the freezer
2.) Carefully peel each number off and place around the inside of the pi symbol
3.) Enjoy your beautiful Pi masterpiece!
