  • Stuffing material
  • Yarn needle for sewing

Step 1: Watch the Video Tutorial (Optional)

Before diving into the written instructions, you may find it helpful to watch our video tutorial. Whether you're a visual learner or just like to get an overview before starting, the video is a great resource.

Step 2: Start With the Chain

Step 1:

Initiate your crochet project by chaining a series of 21 stitches. Remember, this number is just a suggestion—you can modify it to make a pumpkin that's either smaller or larger. The pattern is designed to be flexible.

Step 3: Lay the Foundation

From the second stitch on your hook, proceed to single crochet across the entire row. This will set the base texture for your pumpkin. After completing the row, chain one and turn your work.

Step 4: Create the Texture

In the following rows, execute single crochets, but only through the back loop of each stitch. Chain one and turn after each row. Aim for around 40 rows, but feel free to adjust based on your desired pumpkin size.

A good rule of thumb is to double the number of your initial chains, minus one.

For this pattern, that would be (21-1) x 2 = 40 rows.

Step 5: Form the Body

Once you've finished your rows, use a yarn needle to stitch the two ends together, creating a tube. This will serve as your pumpkin's body.

Step 6: Close the Bottom

Use the yarn needle to sew one end of your tube shut. This will act as the base of your pumpkin. At this point, it might resemble a hat!

Step 7: Add the Stuffing

Fill the tube with your chosen stuffing material, making sure it's evenly distributed to maintain a rounded shape.

Step 8: Seal the Top

After stuffing your pumpkin, sew the open end shut to complete the main structure.

Step 9: Add Character

To make your pumpkin look more authentic, thread a length of yarn from the top to the bottom and pull slightly. This will create a subtle indent in your pumpkin.

Step 10: Insert the Stem

Step 11: Enjoy!

Congratulations, you've just crafted your own crochet pumpkin! Feel free to play around with different types of yarn, hook sizes, and stuffing to make it uniquely yours.
