Introduction: REBAR “LETTER OPENER”

YOU WILL NEED:

4 1/2” Piece of 1/2” Diameter Rebar

Small Forge (preferably propane)

Bottle of Propane (1)

Cross-pein Hammer (24 - 32 oz)

Ball-pein Hammer (16 oz)

Small Pair of Tongs

Bench Vice

Crescent Wrench (with 10” piece of 1/2” bar welded on end)

Bench Grinder with Wire Wheel

Safety Glasses

Face Shield

Earmuffs

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

The Rebar Letter Opener demonstrates basic blacksmithing techniques of tapering, twisting, and shaping steel. John Colle Rogers has made hundreds of these little sweethearts over the years, and they are well loved by everyone who receives one. Make your own!!
