Intro: Rainbow Bead Hoop Earrings

These are fun and easy rainbow-colored earrings made with earring hoops but attached to earring hooks to make a fashionable and colorful pair of earrings worthy of any color outfit. Enjoy!

STEP 1: Materials

What you'll need

  • Two small wire earring hoops
  • Four small silver jump rings
  • Lots of seed beads, all different colors and sizes
  • Jewelry pliers; round-nose and cutting pliers
  • Two earring hooks
  • 28 gauge wire
  • Two dangling tear-drop beads, or similar

All of these can be bought at a craft store, such as Michael's or Joann.

STEP 2: Making the Hoop

To begin, take one of your earring hoops. One end ends in a loop, the other is just straight. You want both of these to end in loops, so using your round-nose jewelry pliers, bend the straight end of the wire to form a loop symmetrical to the other side. Do this with both earring hoops.

Then take one of your jump rings (if you don't have any, you can easily make one out of wire), open the ring, and place on both loops. Close the ring, and your hoop is finished and ready to decorate.

STEP 3: Starting Adding Beads

Cut a 5-inch long piece of 28-gauge silver jewelry wire and wrap the end several times around the hoop. Then, add one bead to the wire and wrap the wire around the hoop again once, securing the bead in place.

STEP 4: Finishing Adding the Beads

Continue doing this and adding beads one at a time almost all the way around the hoop. When you're finished adding beads, wrap the remaining wire several times around the hoop to secure.

Cut off the extra wire.

STEP 5: Adding the Middle Dangling Bead

Open one of your jump rings and place a tear drop bead (or a similar bead) on the ring. Close the ring.

Attach your last two jump rings together, then attach to the ring with the tear drop bead, creating a short chain. Then with jewelry pliers, open the top ring and place it onto the main jump ring on the earring. Make sure the rings are tightly closed, and the center bead is finished.

STEP 6: Finishing

Now all there is to do is add the earring hook. With pliers, open the loop on the earring hook and put it on the main jump ring on the earring. Your earring is finished!
