Re-visited Twistab

Thanks t the online platform: twistab.org, I had access to the basic 3D model of their stool. The goal is to take the main components and adapt the design according to how I want it to look like.

Step 1: Design an Set Up of the File

Once I have done my final design on a 3D model software, it is important to create layers for all the different types of milling. For the intern cuts, I needed to had bridges which will avoid the wood to move during the milling. They act like small connectors.

Step 2: The Milling Process

Once the file is prepared, and the machine is running, you just have to wait for the milling to be done.

Step 3: Assembly

The seat has been doubled at the contrary of some examples on the website. It can give a bit more resistance, and also adds to the look.

Step 4: Design Details

I decided to add some feet to allow the person who seats on it to put his feet against the stool.

Step 5: The Bridges

We previously talked about the bridges. They are easilly breakable if you use a wood scissors and a hammer. Be carefu to not damage the surface of the stool while you take them off. Last thing is to sang those parts to make them disappear and finalize the aesthetic of the stool.

Step 6: Finishes

The next step for me is to sand it entirely to make it softer and more aesthetic. But also to be able to assemble the different parts easily since it doesn't fit yet because they are probably too tight.

Step 7: Finished Product

As you can see on the picture, the feet of the stool are the most interesting in the project. We tried it, and it is very intuitive !
