Introduction: Recon / Retaliator Bolt Handle

The Recon / Retailator Nerf blaster has a slide on top of the gun used to cock the weapon. This can be made difficult on your situation, especially if you add something like a sight or light , etc. to the tactical rail on top.

This simple instructable demonstrates how to add a bolt handle to your Recon / Retaliator blaster to allow easy two finger cocking of the gun.

Items needed .

1. Recon / Retailator Blaster.

2. Philips & flat head screwdrivers

3. 1/4 X 3/8 X 1 aluminum or steel spacer ( found at local hardware store )

4. 1" aluminum or steel Chicago screw & post ( found at local hardware store )

5. Electrical tape

6. Drill with 9/64 drill bit.

Step 1: Disassembly

First remove the two screws at the back of the blaster that hold the plunger cover tube in place.

Remove the tube & set aside.

Remove the remaining 13 screws that hold the body of the blaster together, you will have to partially cock the blaster to reach the front 2 screws.

Take off the left side of the blaster and turn it over.

You'll find that half of the cocking slide is held on with only one screw here, remove the screw.

This will allow the slide to fall free.

Step 2: Drilling the Hole

Take your Chicago screw and place it as shown to determine where to drill your hole.

Mark the spot then set the screw aside.

Drill a 9/64 hole

Screw the head of the Chicago screw through the back. It should fit tightly.

Step 3: Assemble the Bolt Handle

Wrap a small amount of electrical tape around the Chicago screw body.

You want just enough tape that the screw can be slid inside the space & fit snugly.

Screw your bolt handle onto the screw that now comes through the side of the slide until it tightens down.

Step 4: Reassembly & Completion.

Reverse the steps to reassemble your blaster.

You can now easily cock your gun even if you have extra parts mounted to the tactical rail.
