Introduction: Recycled Phone Stand

The recycled phone stand is great for people with a little extra time. This project takes around 15 minute to do and requires a few simple materials found around most households. For this project, you will need two empty soda cans, cardboard, hot glue, scissors or a box cutter, and a pen or a pencil.

Step 1: Step 1: Sketch and Cut!

For this first step, you are going to need cardboard, pen/pencil, and scissors/box cutter.

You are going to want to trace the shape of your phone on the cardboard, but make sure to leave some extra space. There will be four different parts: the back, the right side, the left side, and the bottom. After everything is all traced, then you are going to want cut out each part.

Step 2: Step 2: Glue 'em Together

For this next step, you will need the cut out pieces and the hot glue.

Put each part together and glue carefully because you don't want the side parts to slant.

Step 3: Step 3: Charger Hole

For this step you will need the glued piece and scissors or a box cutter. You use the scissors to cut out a hole for a charger depending on where your charging port is.

Step 4: Step 4 (optional): Strengthen Base

This step is an optional one because all cupholders are different. The cupholder I based this project off of was much bigger than a soda can. To make the phone holder more sturdy when in the cupholder, I wrapped a piece of cardboard around and glued it.

Step 5: Step 5: Cut the Can

This step is probably the most challenging it will get. You will need scissors or a box cutter and the soda can.

When cutting, I suggest cutting the top off first, then cut part of the can at an angle so that you will be able to see your phone properly.

Step 6: Step 6: Glue Can

For this step you are going to need the hot glue gun, the cut can, and the phone holding piece.

Glue the cut can to the bottom of the phone holder and make sure that the holder piece is at the proper angle for your car.

Step 7: Step 7: Glue Second Can

This is the final and easiest step. All you need to do is glue the second can to the bottom of the cut can and then you have yourself a recycled phone holder.
