Introduction: Red Neck Stilts

In this Instructable you will learn to make some easy, potentially unsafe stilts.

Step 1: Get the Required Materials

What you will need is one plank of wood, long and wide enough to fit your feet on. 6-8 legs off of a table. A drill for screwing the legs onto the planks and about 22-28 screws (the screw heads need to be bigger than the holes in the legs)

Step 2: Prepare the Planks

If you need to, cut the plank to the required length and then if its too wide cut the plank at a band saw. The plank will need to be wide enough to fit all three table legs on the bottom in a triangle formation. Once cut, use a planer to plan both planks down so they aren’t rough.

Step 3: Screw on the Legs

Take three (or if you decide to, four) of the legs and place them in a triangle (or square) formation on the bottom of one plank. Then take three screws for each leg and screw them down, two in the front and one in the back. Once that is done make sure that the legs are all the same length so when you stand on them you aren’t askew. Repeat this step for both planks.

Step 4: Attach the Feet Straps

There are two ways to do this, take a piece of rope that is long enough to wrap over your foot and be fasten down to the plank. The other, and better, option in to take a old pair of shoes (sneakers, sandals, boots) that fit you and fasten them down with screws or glue. That way you can tie your feet in but with the rope your feet can easily slide out. Repeat this step for both planks.

Step 5: Try Them Out!

When you try them out, make sure you are in a location that isn’t surrounded by fragile or sharp objects in case you fall down. Using something like a tree to help stabilize yourself when getting on them is a good idea.
