Red Velvet Whoopie Pies are next up on In the Kitchen with Matt. These red velvet sandwich cookies are incredibly easy to make, using only 5 ingredients. They taste really yummy and are cheap to make. If I can make these you can make these. Go out there and make your own. Enjoy!

Step 1: Ingredients

For the tools and ingredients you will need:

Red Velvet Cake Mix

Frosting (Whatever kind you like)

2 Large eggs

1 tsp of Vanilla Extract (about 5 ml)

6 Tbsp of butter (melted) (about 85 g)


Cookie Sheet

Artisan Mat or parchment paper

Cooling Rack

wooden spoon

1 Half ball Tbsp

large bowl

large bag or piping bag

Step 2: Melt Butter

First let's preheat our oven to 375 degrees F. (190 C) Next let's melt our butter in the microwave. If your butter is at room temperature it will only take about 20 seconds.

Step 3: Add Ingredients and Stir

Next we add all our ingredients to a large bowl. Add the cake mix, the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Next with a wooden spoon stir all the ingredients together.

Step 4: Form Balls With the Dough and Bake

Next let's use our Tablespoon and create the same size dough balls. Place them on your artisan mat, or parchment paper. Now we will bake them in the oven for 8 to 9 minutes.

Step 5: Let the Cookies Cool

Now we let our cookies cool for a minute on the cookie sheet, then place them on a cooling rack to cool completely.

Step 6: Add Frosting

Now all we need to do is add our frosting. Take a plastic bag and add a big scoop of frosting or use a piping bag. You can use whatever frosting you like for this. Cream cheese frosting works out really well, or just use the store bought kind. Twist the bag, then snip off the corner with scissors. Next pipe the frosting onto one of the cookies, then place another cookie on top. Do this with all of them, and you are done!
