Introduction: Remote Control Pneumatic Air Lift Casters

Airlift Caster Platform

Supplies

Four 3/4" bore, 1" travel pancake Cylinders, Air tank, one 5/2 double 12Vsolenoid valve, four triple swivel casters, 1 regulator, 1 muffler, 2 4way manifolds, 1/4" hose

12V battery, wireless relay/Remote, Switch, 12V to 120V inverter, screw pin terminal blocks

Step 1: Mount Everything

think about how hoses and wiring will be run before attaching anything to the platform, so that you do not create a problem for yourself later. on cylinder in each corner and attach a triple swivel to each. make sure cylinder is placed so that caster has clearance to spin and ports are accessible

Step 2: Plumbing

plumb one 4 way manifold into each side of the 5/2 valve, so that you can run hose to each of the cylinders. run hose from the first manifold to each of the cylinders air inlets, once that's done repeat from the second manifold to all of the cylinders exhaust ports. ( Side note, make sure all 8 hoses are approximately the same length so that the cylinders move in sync) now one state of the valve will be up and the other state will be down. next plumb your tank into the Air in port on the valve. to give the system pressure. Lastly, plumb the two exhausts together with a T and attach the muffler

Step 3: Wiring

now that it is all plumbed its time to set up the wireless relays to trigger the solenoids. I used a 12V battery and an inverter because my relays were 120V but you could do it with a 12V relay and make it easier.

I mounted my battery near the edge so that I could get in and charge it easier. I also added in a switch after the battery to turn the system off while not in use. I used terminal Blocks to split my Wiring, I took 12V and ran it to the Common of the relays and to the inverter to get 120V to power the receiver. once the relays had power I wired in the solenoids to 2 of the relays so that I could trigger up and down.
