I have built several of these using the original motors and marine type 12v batteries. a lot of fun. we had a stuffed wyle coyote toy in one chasing another with big bird stuffed toy. the kids loved it

Sorry, this project has since been destroyed do to lack of room in my garage. It wasn't hard to make though. Blower motor from junkyard cars make great motors. Just make a bracked to hold the motors on the jeep and attach the barbie jeep wheel. All the electronics are basic RC stuff, nothing fancy. Steering is just a 1/4 scale hitec servo. You don't need much to steer hard plastic wheels.

This can easily be done, Almost the same as setting up a regular RC car but with bigger servos.
Although I would use a few 7.2 volt battery packs in Parallel with a very Hot RC motor that can rev over 50 000 RPM. The motor that is in it only does about 12,000 to 20,000 MAX......

"regular RC car electronics" tells you all you need to know, really. Get a transmitter and receiver, ESC (electronic speed control), and a 1/4 scale servo. Connect the motor to the back wheels. Rig the servo to steer the vehicle.
I suggest using a Power Wheels toy jeep, putting a child-sized dummy in it, and of course setting it on fire before driving it down suburban streets at dusk. Google Power Wheels RC and you'll find people who've done this. Well, except maybe without the burning child-sized dummy.

I sure get a lot of these comments. I wish people would look aorund the site and find out what's acceptable and what's not before telling me I was supposed to do something different. This is a "VIDEO" upload, not an instructable. Click the submit tab and look at the options. You're supposed to upload an "instructible" if you have full instructions. OR you can upload a "slideshow" OR you can upload a "video" In the words of the Instructable robot: What can I use slideshows for? Slideshows are for showing off photos of what you made or did, but don't have full instructions to create an Instructable with. What kind of videos can I post? Submit your how-to videos OR show off what you have made OR are currently making. Just make sure the videos are your own. Come on folks, let's understand the rules before we start enforcing them.
