Introduction: Ribba LightBox: Keep Calm and Exterminate
This is a quick Weekend Project. I wanted to test to engrave on glass, but I had the idea to paint it first black, to bring the picture more in scene.
I still own a few old Ikea Ribba frames, the one with the glass front, so it was great for this project.
Step 1: Preparing the Frame and the Glass
Take the ribba frame appart.
Clean the glassplate with acohol and use a spraycan with black color to paint it.
Let it dry.
Step 2: Designing the Picture
Step 3: It’s Laser Time
I first lasered markers on a peace of wood to align the glassplate.
To do the laser job I use an Epilog zing 16 30Watt.
Step 4: Lights
I use my self designed PCB’s, but perfboard should be perfect to.
Any other light source will work to.
The micro USB breakout board will be installed on the back to connect a 5V USB power supply
Step 5: Building All Together
Build the frame together and install red LEDs inside. On the backside a glued alufoil, to reflect the light.
The micro USB breakout board is fixed with hot glue or screws on the back of the frame.
Step 6: Showcase
Here is the final Lightbox
