Uh-ohhh, it's that time of the year again. Are we not men? No shirking on your duty to get your beloved a bouquet of roses or that special something that only comes in carats. If you do, I have just the thing...

I've never had luck with sending flowers to my honey at work. The first time when we were dating the flowers were never delivered due to a freak ice storm that shut down the city. I wanted to surprise her but they were delivered two days later. The florist did add in a few balloons though. Ever since, I have sent a "doghouse" card with the flowers to make up for it. It wasn't my fault...really. Besides, all of the other cards they have to send are too mushy mush for me even though I am a hopeless romantic. I love you, honey. This one is for you.

So, here it is, for those of you that have to take one for the team, a belated "doghouse" card for any occasion. For those who have never been to the doghouse or knows what it means to be threatened by it, just ask any harriedxx I mean married person.

This is a pop-up card inspired by the many other pop-up card instructables. I reverse engineered the pop-up fonts to make this one. The MS Word document is attached to start you off.

Step 1: Broken Heart?

Download and print the attached document on some nice paper or cardboard stock. You can use colored paper and then add a contrasting color sheet as a backer.

Draw the heart outline just like in the picture. Be careful or else it will turn out like a pair of Mickey ears. Use the guidelines as a guide. The middle line to designate the half page is not necessary accurate due to the word processor. May be even more off on A4 paper.

Cut and fold where indicated from the picture. Use a razor knife or scissors to cut through the paper. Fold the top tab first. Crease the bottom of the robot. The page can then be folded entirely in half by tucking in the robot heart as you go.

If you have fancy edge trimming scissors or pinking shears, cut designs on the edges of the paper. If you have fancy paper punches, punch out extra heart shapes or designs in the paper.

Attach a contrasting sheet to the back.

Attach to the biggest bunch of roses you can find and hope for the best.
