I tend to collect jewelry making supplies without a plan ahead of time. I happen to have these fun black circles and some thin aluminum rainbow wire and decided to try a simple and rough wire wrap design with the circles to make rainbow earrings with a criss cross wire look.

Supplies

Supplies:

Circles - I got mine on Etsy and they are 54mm (or just over 2") across
Aluminum Wire - 20 gauge or .8mm is what I used from this pack, also Aluminum is easy to bend, so if you use something else, it just might be a little harder
Jump Rings - since my earring is black, I used black 5mm by .8mm and 4mm by .8mm jump rings to attach the earring.
Earrings - again, I used black to match the earring, I also prefer stainless steel when I can get it

Tools:

Wire Cutter - you don't necessarily need one this strong for just the aluminum wire but something like this is nice to have, a regular flush cutter will also work
Nylon Covered Jewelry Pliers - not necessary but helpful if you want to bend the colored aluminum wire without damaging it
Needle Nose Pliers - just always helpful with jump rings and earwires.

Step 1: Wrap Rainbow Wires

Start with your first color of wire. You don't have to cut it to start, but lay it out across the circle so it extends 1.5" or 2" over. Now carefully wrap that around the edge. You can use your nylon covered pliers if you need to help flatten or tighten it. I tried to wrap it twice on one side, bring it to the other and wrap it twice more and then end the wrap in the back if I could.

Now, cut the aluminum so it extends the same distance across the other side. Do the same where you wrap twice on one side and twice on the other.

Trim any excess you don't want.

Make sure the ends of the wire are wrapped as close to the circle as possible so they won't catch on anything.

Step 2: Repeat

Repeat this with all the wires. I recommend not doing them all across the center as they'll all over lap and it will get fat there. Try to do them in a random pattern.

I also tried to weave the wires around so they weren't always just stacking on top of each other.

Try to evenly space them.
