Rubber Band Jar Opener

Intro: Rubber Band Jar Opener

This one is super simple and I use it all the time. It's not that I have weak arms, it's that I have slippery hands. The traction created by the rubber bands will make the lid twist off easily, even if your hands are wet or recently moisturized.

Tools:

A jar that you can't open

1-2 rubber bands (the thick ones work the best)

1. Wrap the rubber band around the lid of the jar. Twist the lid off.

2. If your jar is particularly difficult, wrap the second rubber band around the jar itself. Twist the lid off.

Voila!

I bought some material from www.rubbersheetroll.com. The sales reps helped me find exaclty what I was looking for.

You can also use latex gloves! But this is probably the best trick for jars I've seen
If you hit the center of the cap of the jar against a corner of your table or with the back of a fork/spoon/knife it opens easier

Is it really that simple? Thankyouthankyouthankyou! I spend like all my free time in my kitchen, this will save me many *grrrmbl....'s*

Great idea!

At my house we have a handful of mason jars with bands on the lids just like this! We've found the fat rubber bands that often come on raw broccoli work especially well for this. :)
