Rubber Band Sniper Rifle

this is a simple rubber band arm design I made whilst tinkering in my room. If you have attempted and or completed my double barreled rubber band shotgun design you’ll be relieved how much more simple this is as it is single shot. It uses a operating system I call “friction operated” this is just like a traditional rubber band gun except there is a small bar putting upward pressure on the projectile. Thus increasing accuracy and range. It also has a bayonet lug for mock bayonets. Red airsoft bbs (6mm) sights are a feature as well. It includes even a system to adjust the stretch of your rubber band propellant to suit your rubber bands, I do recommend thinker and longer rubber bands to increase power, range and rubber band life (as the rubber bands will snap every 10-30 shots depending on your rubber bands of choice). Supplies

you’ll need 2-3 1-1-36” square down “rods”, lots of jumbo and regular sized craft sticks, 1/2” aluminum pipe at least 5 1/2 inches long. A clothes pin, small rubber band, thin cardboard, and finally a long thick rubber band.

For tools you’ll need:

Wood saw,

HIGH TEMP hot glue gun,

Scissors,

Hobby knife if need be.

Step 1: The Hyper Extremely Simplistic-ly Easy-to-make Mechanism.

alrighty, this is a super simple mechanism compared to my double barrel shotgun. It consists of two parts: trigger assembly, and friction bar. First we’ll go over the trigger assembly. Take a wooden clothes pin and take it apart. Use a saw to cut a sliver in the back part of one of the wooden pieces of the clothes pin. Than reassemble the clothes pin. Cut a inch off a craft stick and hot glue it into the sliver. Let it cool and it should look like the above picture. If not, you did it wrong and i poorly explained this (sorry if so just leave a comment and I’ll get back to you and clarify a bit). Set this aside for now. Now take to two craft sticks and hot glue them together so that about two inches stick outward. That’s the friction bar. Set it aside and we will move onto step 2.

Step 2: The Body and Barrel.

cut one of your 1x1x36 dowel rods by shaving the back corner into a diagonal. (Look to photo for help sorry). Hot glue your barrel so that it’s end are in the middle and the other will be away from the cut piece. Attach one and one half of your friction bar to the barrel. (The side in the middle).then at the end of you friction bar attach the trigger assembly. The should look like above photo. You can now look to my photos for my personal stock and forearm deign or do your own. The little stubs all over the barrel are the rubber band adjusters for power

Step 3: Operation

now that your gun is complete (I hope). You can use it. First find your rubber band of choice and add it to one of you stubs for rubber bands. Then bring it into the chamber so it’s tight against the barrel. Pull your rubber band into your clothes pin (if it keeps coming out reinforce the clothes pin spring with rubber band like I did) and slide a pen (longer than the 5 1/2 chamber) down the barrel and tight against the clothes pin. and pull the trigger in a safe direction. If built correctly it will fire and shoot at least 40 feet. If you can’t get this to function right just ask me in the comments and I’ll be sure to help.
