Introduction: Rubix Coasters 2.0

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

Here's an updated version on my original Rubix Coasters project, only this time with wooden tiles and leftover cork board!

Step 1: Materials

For these colorful coasters, you will need...

  • cork board
  • wooden squares
  • acrylic paint (red / white / orange / yellow / green / blue / black)
  • paint brushes
  • X-acto knife
  • ruler
  • marker
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks

Step 2: Prep Work

Paint the squares different colors. The original colors of the Rubix cube are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and white.

Step 3: Cut Cork

While the paint dries, cut the cork into 4 x 4 inch squares.

Step 4: Assembly

Finally, use dabs of hot glue to adhere 9 squares at a time on a cork square. Mix and match the painted tiles for a unique custom look!

Step 5: Ready to Use

Now, you can serve up some colorful retro style!
