Step 1: Conclusions

In conclusion, I would say that planning is key. Make sure that you have planned out all of your circuits correctly, and that you are careful in soldering them together.

In addition, do not forget that your materials areFrAGILE! Do not over heat the circuit, as you can damage your components! When making holes in a fragile box, be sure to keep in mind that the thing may collapse at any moment. Stability is not guaranteed, and you must be weary of the dangers.!

Step 2: The Circuit

From Breadboard to circuit board, this step is arguably the MOST important in the whole process. Without the board, you will have no speaker system! I used a standard amplifier IC chip, with a low voltage resistor to power an individual speaker driver. I figured out along the road; however, that it is not mandatory to have individual IC chip sets for each speaker, and in fact it is possible to share rails for multiple drivers if needed.

To join the wires and components to the board, I used a standard soldering iron, preheated to 750 degrees.

Step 3: Test Test Test!

To ensure that I ended up with a working product, I wanted to test out the design of a box speaker. I used a cardboard box lying around the lab, and put some tape around the edge to give it a somewhat interesting look and texture. I only had one speaker connected at this point. Next, after one works, we can continue on to add more.

Step 4: The Box!

To get a rustic and DIY look, I took four squares of roughly the same dimensions and used some Guerrilla wood glue to fill in the cracks, I then taped the sides together with duct tape to ensure the structure would hold its position.

The moral of this story is: TRUST THE BOND.

The glue held together nicely, and even after removing the tape the next day, it withstood a beating as I sanded down the corners to give it a flush edge.

THE BOX IS DOWN TO PREFERENCE.

You can use any box you would like. At the end of the day, this is YOUR project. The rustic look is just something that was special to me.

Step 5: Make the Speaker Holes in the Box!

We must plan on how we want to mount our speakers inside the box. Since the box is of considerable size, and already pre-constructed, we cannot use the laser cutter on this project.Instead, I used a drill piece and a file to edge away material from the center of 4 of the surfaces.

Step 6: Install the Speakers and Circuit Inside of the Box.

Now it is time to put the project together. With the utmost care, install the circuit board inside of the box, and connect the wires to the speakers using solder. You may also want to cover the bonds in electrical tape after joining to ensure that no loose connections occur- we don't want any problems post-production!

After this, we can place the speakers into the slots created in the box, and see how it looks!

Step 7: Fini!

You now are the owner of one completed 360 degrees speaker system. This was a good end point for me, as i had accomplished everything I had come to do. The box had a nice rustic feel to it, and played some pretty loud music too.
