The C-71 Long Range is an innovative high precision 10/22 receiver CNC machined from billet aluminum. The receiver accepts all Ruger 10/22 components and is compatible with all Ruger 10/22 stocks and barrels. This set of instructions will cover installing the barrel and rail on the Model C-71 Long Range
Supplies
You will need the following:
- Model C-71 Long Range 10/22 Receiver
- Model C-71 Long Range Rail
- 2x #12-24 3/4" Socket Cap Screws
- 4x #8-32 3/8" Low Profile Socket Cap Screws
- 10/22 V-Block
- 10/22 Barrel
- 3/32 allen wrench or bit
- 5/64 allen wrench or bit
- 5/32 allen wrench or bit
- Torque driver
Step 1: Install Barrel
Insert the barrel shank into the receiver. Align the barrel correctly. Tighten the barrel lock screw and torque to 25 in-lbs. Medium strength (blue) Loctite can be used if desired.
Step 2: Install V-Block
Install the v-block. Torque v-block screws to 30 in-lbs. Do not over torque. An adjustable v-block can be used, but is not necessary.
This is a good time to check for barrel droop. Barrel droop can be caused by over torqued v-block screws.
Step 3: Install Rail
Place the rail on the receiver. This may be a snug fit. Install the 4 rail screws finger tight.
Step 4: Torque Rail Screws
Torque the screws to 18 in-lbs in the following order:
- 2nd from front
- 3rd from front
- rear
- front
Repeat torque procedure.
Step 5: Finish
Your rail and barrel are now installed. Complete the remaining assembly in the same way as any other 10/22.
