SHTF Knife Sharpening

In an apocalyptic situation or you are just out in the woods without a sharpening stone, there are many ways to sharpen your knife or axe without one. In this Instructable I will show you a few of them.

Step 1: Car Window

If you are near a car and you can get the window down, just run your knife along the unpolished and rounded part of the glass on the top of the window. Do 3 or 4 passes and flip your knife, repeat until sharp.

Step 2: Coffee Cup

If you flip your coffee cup over there is an un-coated rounded edge that will work the same way as the window works.

Step 3: River Rock

A flat, rounded, and smooth river rock will work almost as well as a real sharpening stone. Just use it like you would use a stone, because it is one...

Step 4: Stropping

Once you have a nice sharp edge you will need to strop your knife.

The nylon straps on your pack work well,

OR

A leather belt/ sheath will work too.

Just hold the strap tight and run the knife along it backwards.
