Introduction: SOLAR POWER GENERATOR | Energy From Sun to Run Daily Home Appliances
It is a very simple science project which is based on converting Solar Energy to usable Electric Energy. It uses the voltage regulator and nothing else. Pick all the components and set yourself ready to make an awesome project which will help you to harness full energy from the scorching sun.
Step 1: MATERIALS REQUIRED
To make this project, you will need the following major components:
1. A Voltage Regulator- LM7805 IC
2. USB Female Connector Pin
3. Solar Panel (of more than 9 volts)

Step 2: STEP 1: Understanding the Voltage Regulator IC.
A LM7805 IC is a voltage regulator that outputs +5 volts. An easy way to remember the voltage output by an LM78XX series of voltage regulators is the last two digits of the number. An LM7805 ends with "05"; thus, it outputs 5 volts.
Out of three pins of the voltage regulator,
PIN 1 is the INPUT (7 volts to 35 volts);
PIN 2 is the GROUND (GND);
PIN 3 is the OUTPUT (5 volts).

Step 3: STEP 2: ASSEMBLING THE COMPONENTS.
At first, apply solder flux to all the pins of the IC and wire.
Then solder the positive wire of the solar panel to PIN 1 and the positive wire of the USB Female Connector to PIN 3. Solder both the negative wire, of solar panel and USB Connector to the PIN 2 (GND) of the IC.

Step 4: STEP 3: YOUR PROJECT IS READY
After all the things and work, your Solar Power Generator is now fully ready. You also add a resistor in series to pin 1 if the solar panel voltage exceeds. There is also a chance of generation of heat from the IC, make sure to read our content (click here), to know how to overcome from that.
