Intro: Sailboat (in) From a Nutshell

A easy fun project perhaps with older kids.

STEP 1: What You Need.

1. Nuts

2. Knife

3. Scissors

4. Paper

5. Toothpicks

6. Glue

7. Hot glue gun (alternative candle wax)

STEP 2: Open the Nuts

I used a knife to open the nuts. With a nutcracker you would destroy the shell.

But be careful not to cut yourself.

STEP 3: Cutting Masts

I used toothpicks as masts. They had to be shortened a bit.

STEP 4: Glue Masts Into Shell

Glue mast into the shell with hot glue or candle wax. Candle wax sets a bit faster. So I used it later on.

Fill the shell half to three-quarter.

STEP 5: Cut Sails From Paper

Start with simple sails like triangular and rectangular shapes. Glue them with glue to the masts and give them a sail shape with your fingers. Go as fancy as you like.

Thank you very much.
Great idea, and a healthy project, too. --Kink--
Thank you very much. The nuts are from my parents tree.
Thank you very much. But have an eye on the kids so they don't cut or burn themself.
