Introduction: Salt and Pepper Shaker
This pair of salt and pepper shakers play with the idea of contrasting concepts: raw and refined form. To convey this contrast, the pepper shaker is built with unrefined burl wood keeping the outer bark look. A grinding mechanism is built into the pepper shaker and can be easily refilled with peppercorns. The salt shaker conveys refined form with the shape and finish of the wood. Both salt and pepper shakers have a eighth inch width strip of opposite textured wood to tie the two works together.
